Hello,
Welcome to the Moneymore Presbyterian Church website where you can browse the different ministries of our congregation.
For those of you who don’t know us, there are two presbyterian congregations in Moneymore, 1st Moneymore which is situated on Stonard Street directly opposite the road to Stewartstown and 2nd Moneymore which is situated on Circular road.
Although there are two congregations, they worship together on alternate weeks in each other’s church buildings at 11.30am and 7pm.
There has been a long history of Presbyterianism in Moneymore reaching back to 1660, so for over 350 years there has been a continual witness for the gospel since then. Originally the first Presbyterian place of worship was on the corner of Circular Road and Conyngham Street where the community center now stands.
In the early 1800’s a 2nd Presbyterian congregation was established. They originally worshiped on wooden forms on the Fair Green during the summer time and then in a barn in the winter time on Circular road. Both congregations united together in 1921 and have remained together since then.
You may be someone who has misconceptions about what the Christian Church teaches. Let me try and explain what we believe. We believe that God has spoken to us through the bible and that as we read the bible we discover who the Lord Jesus Christ is. We believe that the bible points very clearly to the fact that Jesus is the Son of God, who was born into this world, who died on the cross taking the punishment for our sins and who rose again. It is only as we believe in this Jesus that we can have our sins forgiven and have eternal life. That is what it means to be a Christian.
